The Only U.S. Coin of Its Kind — Now Reimagined in Gold Indian Head Quarter Eagle Pendant | Struck 1908–1915 or 1925–1929 | Set in Solid 18k Gold with 14k Gold Chain
This pendant features a genuine Indian Head Quarter Eagle—the only U.S. coin series struck with a recessed (incuse) design. Issued between 1908–1915 and 1925–1929, it represents a bold departure from traditional U.S. coinage. The obverse shows Liberty in a Native American headdress, while the reverse features a standing eagle, both designs sunk into the coin rather than raised.
This example is hand-set in a custom 18k gold bezel, hammered and polished to fit the coin’s exact shape. Unlike mass-produced prong or tab mounts, the bezel fully wraps the coin, protecting its historic relief while providing a seamless, refined finish. A 14k gold chain is included, making the pendant ready to wear as both a collector’s treasure and heirloom jewel.

The History (Collapsible Section): The Indian Head Quarter Eagle, designed by Bela Lyon Pratt, broke with all tradition when introduced in 1908. Instead of raised relief, its designs were recessed below the coin’s surface—a technique known as incuse. Though controversial at the time, the style proved durable in circulation and remains unique in U.S. coinage history. Minted until 1929, the series is beloved today as a rare blend of artistry, experimentation, and Americana.
