From the Workshop
A short film showing an ancient Roman coin, struck under Constantine the Great, being set by hand as a pendant.
Why Constantine The Great?
The coinage of Constantine marks one of the great turning points in Roman (and world) history. Ruling at the threshold between antiquity and a new Christian era, he reshaped the identity of the empire. His coins reflect that transformation as it unfolded.
They bridge two worlds. One still rooted in traditional Roman imagery: soldiers, standards, and imperial authority. The other beginning to reveal new religious symbolism, subtle at first, but increasingly decisive.
Following the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, Constantine adopted the Chi-Rho. Soon, it appeared on imperial coinage, a quiet but revolutionary shift, aligning imperial power with the Christian faith.
At the same time, his issues continued to project strength, unity, and divine favor, reinforcing legitimacy in a period of consolidation.
For collectors, these coins offer something rare: historical gravity paired with accessibility. To hold one is to encounter a moment when the Roman world changed course, when empire, faith, and identity were recast into a new and enduring form.
