This Exact Ancient Coin • Your Choice of Handcrafted Setting
Crafted from an authentic silver drachm of Alexander the Great, this made-to-order pendant features one of antiquity's most enduring coin designs. Struck at the renowned mint of Lampsakos after Alexander's death, it bears the heroic portrait of Herakles on the obverse and Zeus enthroned with eagle and sceptre on the reverse.
Each pendant is handcrafted from the exact coin shown in the photographs. Once sold, this unique coin will never be available again.
Why I Chose This Coin
This drachm stood out immediately for the elegance of its engraving. The portrait of Herakles is beautifully proportioned, framed by a remarkably complete dotted border that gives the coin a refined, medallic appearance. The reverse is equally attractive, with a sharply engraved Zeus and clear control marks that make this an easily attributable example from the Lampsakos mint.
The combination of strong artistry, balanced strike, and exceptional preservation makes this one of my favorite Alexander drachms.
The Story
Although struck after Alexander's death, this drachm was produced while his empire was still largely intact. The generals who inherited his vast kingdom continued minting coins in his name, ensuring that Alexander's image and authority remained recognized throughout the ancient world.
Herakles, depicted on the obverse, symbolized strength and heroic virtue, while Zeus, king of the gods, represented divine legitimacy. Together, these images reinforced the enduring power of Alexander's legacy long after his passing.
More than 2,300 years later, this same coin has survived to become a wearable piece of history—connecting its next owner to one of history's greatest civilizations.

Handcrafted Setting
Your setting is made only after your order is placed, ensuring it is fitted specifically to this exact coin. Because ancient coins are hand-struck, the obverse and reverse are rarely aligned like modern coins. If you have a preferred side to face forward when worn, simply leave a note with your order and I'll orient the setting accordingly.
