An authentic silver coin of Rome's first emperor, struck 29–27 BC.
The rise of Augustus changed the course of history. Struck shortly before Octavian was granted the title Augustus in 27 BC, this silver quinarius belongs to the closing years of the Roman Republic and the birth of the Roman Empire. Having defeated Antony and Cleopatra, Octavian emerged as Rome's sole ruler, ushering in more than two centuries of relative peace known as the Pax Romana.
The obverse bears his portrait alongside the inscription CAESAR IMP VII, proclaiming him Imperator for the seventh time after military victory.
The reverse depicts Victory crowning a sacred cista mystica with a wreath while holding a palm branch. Flanking the figure is the inscription ASIA RECEPTA—"Asia Recovered"—celebrating the restoration of Roman authority over the province of Asia following years of civil war.
More than two thousand years later, this coin remains a tangible connection to one of history's most consequential figures and the moment Rome became an empire.

Handcrafted to Honour the Coin
he years surrounding the birth of the Roman Empire changed the course of history. This coin was struck shortly after Octavian defeated Antony and Cleopatra, at the moment he was transforming from victorious general into Rome's first emperor. Within a few years, he would receive the title Augustus, marking the beginning of more than two centuries of relative peace known as the Pax Romana.
That is what drew me to this coin. Every ancient coin carries history, but this one belongs to a turning point. It was struck as the Roman Republic gave way to the Roman Empire, preserving a moment when one man's victories reshaped the ancient world.
The obverse bears the portrait of Octavian before he became Augustus, while the reverse depicts Victory alongside the inscription ASIA RECEPTA ("Asia Recovered"), commemorating the restoration of Roman authority following years of civil war. Together, they celebrate not only military success, but the emergence of a new political order.
I chose to set this coin in a simple 14k gold pendant so that nothing competes with it. The setting protects the coin while allowing its history to remain the focus. Every mark, every detail, and every imperfection belongs to an object that has already witnessed more than two thousand years of history before arriving in my workshop.
