I have eight Marcus Aurelius coins available, each selected for something a little different. Some have especially attractive portraits, others show more of the wear and toning that comes from nearly two thousand years of circulation, and several have reverse types that deserve a closer look in their own right.
Rather than choose the setting for you, I am offering these coins loose so that you can select both the coin and the way it will be worn.
The photographs show the exact eight coins currently available. Each is numbered so you can compare the portraits, surfaces, shapes, and reverse designs before choosing one.

Once you've chosen your coin, I can make its setting by hand in brass, sterling silver, 14k gold, 18k gold, or 22k gold. Each setting is made specifically around the individual ancient coin rather than fitted into a prefabricated mount.
Why I Chose This Coin
Among the many denarii of Marcus Aurelius, this example immediately stood out for the strength of its portrait. The emperor's famous beard retains wonderful detail, with individually engraved flowing locks that give the portrait remarkable depth and realism.
The reverse complements it beautifully. Mars is shown in full military dress, with his spear, shield, and helmet all clearly visible despite the coin's age. Together, the two sides create a balanced and visually striking piece that captures both the philosopher and the warrior ideals of imperial Rome.

His portraits changed considerably over the course of his life, from the clean-shaven young Caesar of his earliest issues to the heavily bearded philosopher-emperor most of us recognize today. Even coins struck only a few years apart can present him quite differently.
