This pendant features a genuine silver denarius struck in Rome under Commodus, honoring the deified Marcus Aurelius after his death in AD 180. The coin is hand-set in a custom 18k gold bezel, shaped and polished by hand to fit its contours, ensuring both secure preservation and elegant wear.
The History
Marcus Aurelius, remembered as the “Philosopher Emperor,” ruled Rome from AD 161 to 180 and is celebrated for his Stoic meditations and steady leadership during war and plague. His death marked the end of the Pax Romana, and his son Commodus issued this coin to commemorate his father’s apotheosis.
The obverse shows Marcus’s bare head, serene in its simplicity. On the reverse, an eagle stands upon a globe with wings outstretched—a symbol of the emperor’s soul rising to the heavens and a powerful affirmation of Rome’s divine destiny.
This coin is now preserved in a hand-crafted 18k gold bezel, hammered and polished to follow its ancient flan. Each bezel is unique, ensuring no two pendants are ever alike.

Do you ship internationally?

Absolutely! We love turning personal coins into wearable pieces. Just email us at info@peregrinependants.com to discuss your custom order.
