The History
This coin was minted to celebrate Rome’s mythical beginnings. According to legend, the twins Romulus and Remus—sons of Mars and the Vestal Rhea Silvia—were abandoned on the banks of the Tiber, only to be rescued and nurtured by a she-wolf. Their survival and eventual founding of Rome symbolized divine favor intertwined with human destiny.
The addition of the Chi-Rho, Constantine’s imperial Christian monogram, above the wolf unites Rome’s ancient heritage with its newly Christianized future—making this coin a bridge between myth, empire, and faith.
